ABOUT THE HOUSE OF FOTO
& RYAN PATTERSON

The House of Foto is the private studio and creative space of Ryan Patterson, located in Louisville, Kentucky. Ryan is a musician, producer, and recording/mixing engineer most known for his bands Fotocrime and Coliseum. He has also been a member of many other Louisville bands and collaborated with other bands and artists worldwide.

Ryan began experimenting with recording in his teens, recording his bands’ demo tapes on Tascam 8-track cassette recorders. Over the following decades, Ryan’s various bands recorded with many of the most notable recording engineers in the underground. Working extensively with J. Robbins, as well as Steve Albini, Kurt Ballou, Kevin Ratterman, Ed Rose, Jason Loewenstein, and many others, Ryan quietly observed and picked up bits of knowledge with each recording studio experience.

When Ryan decided to record and mix Fotocrime’s Heart of Crime album entirely himself, he took a huge leap forward in his interest and abilities as a recording and mixing engineer. In 2021, he built The House of Foto, a small, relaxed studio that is packed with inspiring instruments, effects, amplifiers, and various miscellany. Since then, Ryan has produced, recorded, and/or mixed music from Coliseum, Fotocrime, Modern Life Is War, Gentle Leader XIV, Jaye Jayle, Aon Brasi, Crippled Black Phoenix, Mirrorless, By The Grace Of God, Shitfire, and others.

BOOKING

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me, anyone is welcome to contact me about producing, recording, mixing, overdubbing, or contributing to projects of any size, large or small. I’m excited about working with both new people and old friends and making excellent music and records together. Projects I take on will be picked based on my interest and availability. Since the House of Foto is not an open-to-the-public commercial studio, I work with bands and artists on a select basis.

I am also available to produce and engineer at other studios, depending on the situation. My day rate will be the same as the House of Foto rate and all travel and accommodation expenses would be an additional charge. At outside studios, I will usually require an assistant engineer from that studio to be present to help with details specific to that studio. I will only mix at the House of Foto. I do not do mobile or live performance recording. - Ryan
